Site Practicalities

site[at]climatecamp.org.uk

Our responsibilities and subgroups include:

  • Site Power group; Making sure there is renewable power on site to all the areas that need it.
  • Structures group ; Finding and erecting structures for the site.
  • Food and Kitchen group ; Networking and getting all the kitchens together making sure food and gas is available, looking at the most eco friendly ways of cooking on that scale.
  • Toilets group ; Sorting out compost loos for the site, looking at ways to have compost loos on low ground
  • Plumbing group ; Providing Water for the whole site, looking at ways to get clean drinkable water from ground water, and then distributing across the site.
  • Grey Water group; Setting up systems to dispose of or reuse our grey water (i.e. water that has already been used)
  • Take Down group; Making sure enough people are around to help with taking down the site, making sure all the stuff has the best home it can.
  • Kids/Young people/Accessibility Group; Identifying specific needs and making sure that they are taken into account by all other working groups
  • Transport Group; Making sure there is a variety of different forms if transport available for groups to use to get from transport hubs to the camp and from the camp to actions.
  • Site planning group; integrating all physical structures into a site plan with input from all the above. This group will change into the Delegating group once the site is set up ; which to create an overview and mechanisms of distributing out of all the jobs that need doing to keep the camp running on a day to day basis.

People are needed to help set the camp up - putting up structures, digging compost toilets, etc. - and later to take it down and return the site to the state in which we found it. This is a chance to learn practical skills and help to collectively create the camp. You don't need to have any prior skills or experience and you can do as much or as little work as you want with the Site Practicalities working group to guide you.

If you would like to get involved in planning the site set-up and take-down before-hand, check out the [what?]

There is also a lot of stuff we need to make the camp successful, have a look at the wish list and e-mail site[at]climatecamp.org.uk if you can supply any of it.
